The safety of children and young people matters to us. Every tutor who lists on We Have Tutors agrees to our safeguarding standards and code of conduct.
Our role in safeguarding
We Have Tutors is a connection and introduction platform. We are not the tutor, we do not employ or engage them, and we do not deliver, supervise or control tuition sessions. Tutors are independent and are responsible for their own safeguarding duties, insurance and compliance with the law.
That does not mean we stand back. We take safeguarding seriously at platform level: we operate the measures below, we act on concerns reported to us, and we cooperate with the appropriate authorities where required. Optional verification is one platform measure and does not replace the safeguarding arrangements that apply to an individual tutor or provider.
Our platform commitments
- Offering optional verification for identity, DBS and qualification documents, with clear profile badges.
- Keeping conversations on-platform until a working relationship is confirmed, where they can be monitored for safety.
- Automatically flagging messages that suggest grooming, abuse, harassment, scams or unsafe contact.
- Acting quickly on any safeguarding concern raised by a user, including suspending accounts where necessary.
- Providing clear reporting routes that remain available at all times.
What a badge does not mean
A badge is not a guarantee of safety, suitability, competence or conduct. Parents and guardians should carry out their own checks — including seeing original documents and taking up references — before engaging a tutor, and remain responsible for supervising arrangements involving children and young people.
